For nearly two decades Formway Metering Services Pty Ltd has exclusively supplied the Iskra range of electricity meters to Australian, New Zealand and South Pacific utilities. A broad range of electromechanical meters, basic electronic meters, and electronic interval meters are offered for domestic and commercial applications. Meters are designed and manufactured in Europe to meet applicable international and local standards including the contestable energy trading regulations of the National Electricity Market.
Formway established a state-of-the-art metering laboratory to support the meter supply business. At the heart of the laboratory is a highly accurate single-phase test bench with annual capacity of 270,000 meters. Laboratory capability was supplemented four years later by the commissioning of a three-phase test bench with annual capacity of 60,000 meters. Formway?s laboratory is NATA accredited to ISO 17025 to verify both single-phase and three-phase meters with maximum measurement uncertainties of 0.05%. Formway is also certified by the National Standards Commission as a Verifying Authority for electricity meters.
Laboratory capabilities have not only been applied to calibrate and verify new meters supplied to the market. They have also enabled Formway to provide a comprehensive meter recycling and refurbishment service that covers most types and makes of meters. The service involves the scheduled collection of meters removed from service from utility depots, sorting and cataloguing meters, scrapping obsolete meter types, cleaning repairable meters, and calibration and re-verification.
Formway?s business was broadened some 8 years ago to include field metering services. A crew of 4 metering technicians was established in Victoria. The crew has since grown to 12 metering technicians, supported by an administrative and warehouse facility located at Mulgrave. The scope of work has also grown to include CT metering installations and maintenance, in-service meter testing programs, and customer requested meter testing.
The business model for field metering services established in Victoria has been transplanted successfully in NSW, New Zealand and Queensland where we maintain additional crews of 14 metering technicians, and provide a similar scope of works to that in Victoria.
This broad presence across the NEM has enabled Formway to provide specialist metering services to meter providers in the contestable energy market.
Formway Metering Services Pty Ltd is still owned by the same family which initially founded the operation. The company has developed unique systems and processes which deliver to clients full turn key Metering services. The company regards Metering as its core operation.

Both our Australian and New Zealand operations are accredited under AS/NZS ISO 9001:2000 Quality Management standard. The system is third-party accredited by NCSI ? Certificate number 7234.
Formway has integrating relevant elements of AS/NZS 4804 Occupational health and management systems and AS/NZS ISO 14001 Environmental management systems into its Integrated Management System using the guidelines of AS/NZS 4581.
